Adventure 4- Winter Forest

[After her last post, Shirahoshi spent a few nights at Spock's house while Spock stayed with Lupin. She could tell the arrangement made Spock uncomfortable, though, and so she talked herself into being brave and found herself an apartment of her own. She's been enjoying the view from the eighth floor of Community Housing 3 ever since, though sometimes she has to remind herself that she can leave whenever she wants.

Today is one of those days.

Everything seemed to be back to normal- by Luceti standards, at any rate- and Shirahoshi wanted to explore a little. So she bundles herself up, inflates a new bubble from her coral, and floats down to the ground floor. The trees above make a kind of tinkling noise, covered as they are in icicles and snow. It draws her in, and she floats quietly through the forest, gaping in awe. It's unlike anything she's ever dreamed of. There are a few critters still skittering about in the snow, and whenever she hears or catches them out of the corner of her eye it makes her heart nearly stop. But after a few minutes she's grinning, because this is adventure and she can't seem to get enough of it.

Until sometime in the afternoon, when the shadows have begun to stretch in winter's pale sunlight. Her stomach growls, and she realizes with a start that she's very cold, very hungry, and very, distinctly, lost.]

[The video starts with a sniffle. She's not crying, for once. She's just been out in the cold for awhile.]

Um... D- does anyone know the woods really well? I think I'm lost...

... Okay. Do I need to do anything?

Rotate your journal around in a 360 degree angle and remain stationary! I shall know everything I need to just from that!

[She lifts the journal and turns in a circle. The video shows a nice shot of her neck, shoulder, and hair.]

Is that what you wanted me to do, Rock Lee-sama?

Ah - no, Shirahoshi-sama! A misunderstanding is at work here! Please, rotate it while the journal is facing away from you! That way I can see all of your surroundings!

[Oh hey, it's the strange girl that Leanne has often sees in between nest building....

And that doesn't look good.]

Can you show me your surroundings? I can try to find you.

[Oh! Yes, she recognizes this girl. They are neighbors now. Shirahoshi turns the journal around and holds it up ostensibly so she can see more of the forest.]

Right here isn't a good spot. Maybe if I can find something noticeable, like a log on the ground or a tree with a big mark on it would be better...

[Leanne studies the images and goes to let out a small sigh.]

Can you show me a little more? How is the scent in the area? Each area does have it's own scent.

[weakahoshi]

It's scent..? Oh! Kind of like how I know my way around the ocean from the currents!

Hmmm...

[Shirahoshi sniffs thoughtfully. Yes, there are a lot of things she can smell but... she isn't really sure what they are.]

It smells like... um.... Surface things.

Yes, like that!

[And... That wasn't very helpful at all. Leanne lets out a small sigh.]

That helped a lot, I will be on my way now.

[Besides, it shouldn't be too hard to find one that smells like the ocean within a forest.]

I could try looking for you! I had to find some of my friends when I was out there before, so it shouldn't be that hard to find you.

That would be wonderful, Red-sama! Are some of your pokey-mons good at helping?

If you can show me the area around you, I can find you quickly if you'd like. [In case she still needed someone to help her.]

[She holds the journal out and points the camera at some of the nearby trees.]

D- does that really help at all? They all look the same, to me...

[She nods.]

I will try to find you quickly. Please stay in one spot.

Wouldn't it work better if I try to find you, too? Because if we're both looking we're more likely to find each other right?

If there are no people around you, then I should be able to find you with ease. Roaming around will confuse me. [Using her ultra cool senses right now.]

[Draco himself isn't much for using the journal. His hands are humanoid enough, but claws never did well with turning very tiny pages, and so it's by chance alone that he would be in the part of the forest that Shirahoshi has wandered into.

Yet, even then, he's a great big dragon flying on his way somewhere. Right now he's skimming over the forest's top and, whatever he might be up to, Shirahoshi is likely to take note of him before he takes note of her. Luceti's people aren't such a rare sight to him, after all, so it isn't strange to notice just another human out and about.

Lucky for them, it's hard to miss Draco when he goes soaring by overhead, casting his great shadow down across the forest floor and disturbing the branches and wildlife with his passing.]

[Oh! Shirahoshi hadn't thought to fly over the tops of the trees! She uses her bubbly coral to add a bit of fresh air to the bubble holding her aloft, and goes after the dragon, being careful of branches as she passes through the canopy. Once she's above the trees, though, she can move quite fast. Slipping through air currents is a lot like maneuvering through ocean currents, and she picks it up easily. She's still not closing in on him as fast as she'd like, so she calls out ahead of her, hoping maybe he'll hear in spite of the rushing of the wind.]

Dragon-sama!!!

[And hear her he does. He cranes his head about to peek at the voice he heard somewhere behind him and, well, now there's a surprise! But rather than reply immediately, Draco searches out a spot he can land. It's simpler for him that way.

That means they both have to fly on for a minute longer, but a clearing eventually comes up. He drops out of the air, landing neatly in the space among all those trees. It's then that he looks up again and replies!]

What in the world is a mermaid doing flying around?

[She circles around and comes to a stop at eye level with the dragon, out of breath and giggling.]

Marco-sama found some bubbly coral for me. It's how we move around on land.

[Shirahoshi spins so he can get a good look at the bubble. Though there isn't really much to see, unless Draco digs pretty mermaids.]

[...Ah. There may be much Grune wishes to do, but she is not so occupied that she can ignore someone so clearly needing aid.]

I often go for walks in the forest. I can assist you. Please, stay where you are. [She keeps her voice calm, but makes certain to project authority. She very much hopes this young woman will listen to her last sentence in particular, or this will be a very long afternoon for the both of them.]

Is there anything particularly distinct in your surrounding area that you can show me?

[Looking around, Shirahoshi notices a bush that hasn't lost its leaves entirely, and points the journal in that direction.]

Does that help? Maybe I should try to find something more recognizable...

It does, yes. [Certainly, it's a start.] But if you could show me more of your surroundings, it would allow me to find you more quickly.

[Shirahoshi waves the journal around slowly.]

Shouldn't I be looking for you too, maybe? Then we'll find each other in half the time!
