weakahoshi | Adventure 1- The Surface [Action]

IIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

[Anyone in the area of Luceti's beach has probably just heard an ear-splitting, sonic screech. The astute observer (or, even the non-astute observer) may notice uncharacteristically large waves breaking up on the beach. For any curious enough, if they look out to sea, they'll notice something spectacular. A large pink mermaid is splashing about, swimming quickly one direction, then crying out- much more quietly now- and changing directions suddenly. She does this a number of times, then dives deep, only to surface a few minutes later, looking for all the world like she's trying to beat the world record for "longest surface jump made by a fish". Whatever her goal is, she doesn't appear to be achieving it, because the process repeats itself over and over.

Those with extremely good eyesight, or who are brave (or stupid) enough to try getting closer may notice a bit of flotsam trailing along behind her.

[Luna's attempt at diplomacy is met with a resounding shriek, and the giant pink mermaid dives into the water, holding her hands to her ears. It's obvious, even from above the water, that she's quivering down there, but after a moment, she pokes her head up above the water, timidly.]

P- p- please don't y- yell at me, B- B- Bird-sama! I... I d- don't take it v- very well.

We are...not a bird, either. [Luna rolls her eyes. First a horse, now this. What will these creatures think of next?]

[Either way, this is a bit more like it. Luna hovers, sinking slowly in the air so she's a bit closer to the surface of the water.]

Our apologies. But, pray tell, why hast thou been splashing about so? Is there a problem?

[Shirahoshi sniffles delicately, the tears still welling in her eyes as she nods.]

Th- this book keeps f- following me...

[Luna glances around until she finally spots the culprit, wondering how the stars the thing has managed to stay in one piece. (...)]

The journal is what thou art referring to? Fear not, good villager, for that book is meant to remain close at hoof. Or, perhaps, close at tail.
